Biography:
Illana C. Jordan received a Masters in Organizational Psychology, with a specialization in Diversity Management from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The Chicago School shaped her belief that inclusion in the workplace is not just in allegiance to a larger social responsibility, but is also a consumer driven responsibility that honors the customer’s desire to see their interests reflected back to them through the services and products in which they invest. Illana went on to complete her Masters in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. She chose this program both for its rigorous academic probing and unyielding loyalty to pioneering an anti-racism mission, as well as for its heavily psychodynamic clinical paradigm and respect for the intrapsychic complexity of the human experience. Her philosophical perspective is built securely upon the organizing principle that diversity and inclusion are personally, professionally and politically sound criterion upon which to structure long term interpersonal fortitude and subsequent societal stability. As such one of the primary motivations of her consulting practice is to promote a rise in diversity/inclusion consciousness through interpersonal discourse, political advocacy and professional onus that informs progressive organizational change. Illana's research interests include psychodynamic theory, trauma as it pertains to racial and gender identity development, child development, sexuality and organizational inclusion implementation to name a few. She has done trainings on racial identity development, identity trauma and emergent-need based counseling for clinicians and has developed and implemented programing around employment training for marginalized populations. When she is not thinking critically about how to best support emotional uprise for marginalized populations, you will likely find her sharing coffee with a friend, rearranging her furniture, making a collage or journaling at Foster Street Beach. |
